We stopped here for drinks before our dinner at another place. There is one bar per level of the restaurant (3) and they were all packed, standing room only. They offered us a couch on the rooftop if we ordered an app so that's what we did. My boyfriend loved his espresso martini- strong, mildly creamy with a coco powder rim. My peach mojito was a bit too sweet for my liking. The Surf and Turf appetizer stole the show! The mashed potato's, pork belly, and scallop flavors all meshed and everything was cooked to perfection. My only complaint of that would be that it was only a single scallop which sucks for sharing purposes.

Another Boston Restaurant Week visit, another delicious meal for a deal! Umbria did a great job making a menu for a low price of $46 per person. I enjoyed the iceberg wedge salad, a filet mignon and an apple pie for dessert. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, the overall ambiance was cozy and welcoming. Umbria would be a great place for a dinner with friends, or an intimate date. Hats off to the chef!

Hubby and I stopped in during their opening week and wow, what a beautiful modern rustic space. The top floor was not opened yet but it will be the spot for cocktails with a view once it's open. That said, we had a few kinks likely because it was their opening week and service was a bit mixed. Great detail to our table but staff didn't seem to be as knowledgeable about the restaurant's food and process. No one could tell us whether they validated for the Parcel 7 garage (they do in case you're wondering) and they got our order mixed up -- ordered Short Rib Caramelle but got the Braised Short Rib entree instead. Food ordered: Crab cakes, oysters, octopus, lobster dumplings, lobster tacos and short rib pasta. All tasted good enough though there wasn't a specific dish that had the WOW factor and the serving size leaned more to the skimpy end. We ordered 7 dishes between the 2 people and left "not starving". To put it in context, dishes were even smaller than single orders of spanish tapas. Overall, it's a great place to people watch and enjoy some cocktails but if you're not ordering a hefty steak dish, you will order quite a few dishes to make it a filling meal.

Great food, but no "roof deck". We splurged on a lavish meal with family on a Sunday night. All our dishes were either good or great--see details below. But, first, a complaint about the roof deck which took us a while to find...and when we did find it, we saw that it isn't a true roof deck, but rather a nice room with a retractable roof, which was not retracted on said 75 degree September night. I wish people would stop claiming it is the only roof deck in the North End when a true roof deck it definitely is not. Rant over. We ordered: --Drinks: Hot and dirty martini, excellent --Wine: Excellent bottle of Campaccio (Sangiovese blend), $80. --Lobster tacos. Good, but would have benefitted from more sauce and a soft rather than a hard shell. --Porcini soup. Very strong truffle flavor, to the point where it overpowered the porcini. It was as though someone made a quick roux with flour and truffle oil. --Filet mignon, 8 oz. Superb cut, perfectly cooked to medium rare. I had the peppercorn sauce and my son ordered the Umbria demi sauce--I preferred the peppercorn. --Gnocchetti al Cinghiale (gnocchi with wild boar sauce). So flavorful, one of the best dishes of the night. --Lobster dumplings. Good, but not subtle in terms of flavor. --Truffled gnocchi side. Good. Strong truffle flavor. --Lobster mashed potato side. Good, though a little too much lobster flavor, again, they have a problem with subtlety. --Burrata salad. Awesome. Gooey, pestoey, truffley. --Iceberg wedge salad. One of the best I've had, perfect balance of blue cheese, bacon, crispy lettuce. Final bill with tip: $560 ($140/person). Overall, a great meal but that's a lot of change to drop! There are lots of alternatives in Boston for such splurgy evenings.

So far I really like this place and will return! It's definitely on the pricey side, most appetizers were over $20. We went for a few drinks and to try some items on the menu. For food we ordered the lobster dumplings - there was a spot or two where I felt it could have been cooked a bit longer but overall this dish was delicious. I would recommend getting it as an appetizer to share because I don't know if it would be enjoyable as your entree. The lobster tasted very fresh, not fishy at all and this like lobster bisque that they are in? Scoop all that up. Maybe get the focaccia and dip that in it. Next up we got the surf and turf which is an appetizer. The flavors in this dish were very good. Scallop was perfectly cooked and the short rib melted in your mouth. The mashed potatoes even had visible shaves of truffle. I would easily order both of these again! If I try more I'll update my review.
